Back-to-School-Night.

It was pretty chilly that evening when I went out to Back-to-School-Night. If you do not know what it is but I am pretty sure you do, it is the night when your parents meet your teachers.

My mom came with me to Clearview Elementary school. We saw all the cars parked along the road that meant that there was no more parking spaces in the school. The nerve!!! Luckily my mom still had the spirit to check in the parking lot. We found one rather perfect size slot which was amazingly just a few yards away from my school!

Inside we saw the nice decorations on the walls. "Wow! They really fixed the place!" I thought. My teachers posted our pictures and drawings on the walls. It was a great sight
.
It took about an hour for my teacher to finish the lecture with the parents while the pictures of our first week of school played on in the projector.  (the whole time I was reading a book called Hoot.  Really, you should read it!) Once finished I showed my mom around the classroom and then we went home. We shivered in the cold of the fall night and walked to our car. (While my mom complained about how cold it was!).  We reached our house in less than a minute because school is really close.

Thanks for reading. Visit me again.

Walk to school and Clearview elementary

I walked to school yesterday! I really enjoyed the trees and the smell of the morning. I had a nice walk. It was pretty chilly. I would have enjoyed it more have I not woken up late and gone to school pretty late too. But the walk was fun! My grandpa walked me to school! We had a little chat on the way. Stuff about school. I passed by the local swimming pool and tennis court. When I entered school I said bye to my grandpa and headed for class. But unfortunately the entrance doors were locked!!! OH Noooooo!!! The doors were locked!!! Good thing someone saw me! If it hadn't been for her I would have been really really late. Here at Clearview elementary school the classrooms have no doors. Everyone is asking why it does not have any. My teacher said that there are no doors so the students will not be noisy. Because if the other class is taking a test and we are noisy we will get in trouble. No doors at Clearview except the cafeteria and the gym. Not even the office has doors! We went to the library that day also! I was excited to borrow some books but they said the I could only borrow books the next week. I got pretty disappointed.

So thank you for reading this and come again!

Newseum

Yesterday, August 31, 2008 I went to the Newseum in Washington D.C.  It was really great! They have so
 many artifacts and all the
newspapers since the 1400s! The place was huge five stories of all glass! In every corner you can see
 something interesting.

They even have a part of the Berlin Wall! And one Death tower,
where the Germans manned
the turrets on the top!!!

They also have the tallest hydraulic powered (water powered )
elevator in the world. They also have the antenna of one of twin
 towers
And a piece of the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania!
And an entire area about the 9/11 disaster!

They have an entire floor where you can find all the front pages of current news in all the countries of the world! Then a newsroom of all the most popular news since the old times! Then there is a Be a reporter activity! Pay 5 dollars and be a reporter for a day!

They have a 4D theater and 3 other theaters. They have a huge area where you can see all the newspapers that told the story of the 9/11 disaster and part of the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. The entire area was about the  9/11! There was also an FBI exhibit with guns and stories about criminals.  The place is so big I did not finish the entire area! If you are going to go to Washington D.C. and you like museums, make sure you visit the Newseum. It is a fantastic place!

The Philippines

Hello I am Martin. Like my family I come from the Philippines. I have decided to tell you a little about it.

First of all the weather in the Philippines is very HOT.  During summer the temperature can go up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. But it is also a very beautiful place with  enormous mountain ranges, great valleys
and beautiful beaches.

It is a busy place with lots of friendly people. It also has very large cities.( sorry no picture )
I have been to lots of beautiful places in the Philippines like Cebu, Bohol and Negros. Although I have not been to Palawan and Boracay, I've heard and read that it's also so nice there and the sand is so fine. Maybe I'll check it out in one of my trips back to Manila.
There is a beautiful beach with nice facilities that we always go to that is only a two hour drive from Manila. It's Anvaya Cove in Subic. The picture on the right was taken by my brother during sunset in Anvaya Cove.
