My hermies!

A Hermit crab dream is to live here.

Hermit Crabs

First all you need for your little "hermies" is a good "crabitat"! It should have lots of water ,food, shells, play areas and hiding places for them. The hermit crabs stay in your hiding places during daytime. Logs and leaves will do. Buy them climbing bars for playing . You need to buy a "Sea Sponge" at the pet store. They use this to drink. Buy them "Substrate" and sand for them. Layer the sand at the bottom of the tank (a ten gallon tank is a starters tank) then mix the substrate with water, then spread on the top of the sand. Make sure the humidity stays between 70 and 80, and the temperature
is also between 70 and 80.  Only give the "hermies" new food every 12 hours. Just to be safe if you like give them food every 6 hours. I recommend giving them
fruits and vegetables. Make sure this diet includes carrots. It gives them healthy carotene!
Also give them "Cuttle Bone" from the pet store. DO NOT give them food aside from fruits, vegetables and "Cuttle bone". They will DIE if they eat processed food. Give them prepared
powdered food from the pet store. If pellets are the only option crush it into powder.
DO NOT give them normal tap water. It has killer hermit crab metals in it. Buy declorinator and read the instructions to see how many drops to add to the water. Please do not keep picking up your crabs. You can sometimes but it will stress them out of you do. I do not know much about mites or gnats so
do not ask me to help you out. I do know that you have to get rid of hem ASAP. Give them weekly baths if you think it is good for them. Giving them a bath is not necessary because they bath themselves in the cage with the declorinated water you gave them. Fill up a pale of water and submerge your crab upside down for 3 seconds then turn them over and take them out. Introduce new crabs in baths. Giving your crab a bath requires declorinated water (if it is city water their gills will turn red and they WILL DIE) so make sure you have all the right stuff for a bath. If they fight give the evil crab a time out. Keep repeating this till they know each other. remember giving crabs a bath is not necessary because they bath themselves in the tank. They also molt if you see your crab digging a hole in the substrate take him out of the tank and isolate him in another tank. Make sure there is a LOT of wet substrate in the tank(your other Hermie could eat him alive without his shell/skin on)only put him back in the tank when he finishes his old skin and grows back his new skin(also give him a few shells) . Make sue that the food and water that you put in is cuttle bone (a very healthy Hermy food) and salt and fresh declorinated water. If you want to learn more about crabs type in GOOGLE "Lets talk crabs" and click on the second bar you see or you can go to Hermit Crab lovers.com          THANKS!!!

Skyline caverns!

We went to Skyline Caverns this weekend! It was really cool there. It was also pretty
cold in there. We went I think about 2 miles underground!  The water was so shiny in the cave
that when you see stalactites, it will reflect on the water making the cave look like a

death trap! They would also use
 great lighting to make the
cave look cooler! We had a fun time at the caverns! It was huge! They
have fish in the caverns to test if they get blind in a few months!

But they still did not get blind... I had a fun time at the
caverns!  We even had a picnic!  Then beside the cavern
 entrance there was
even a mirror maze! It was
all mirrors so you bump into glass
 and you get confused.
It was really cool there! You should go there sometime!

I have survived a month in school. I am getting my report card in a few weeks. I hope I get a good grade! My dad said that if I get A+ s I could get a pet! School is getting pretty tough and I got a C and 2 Bs. The bright side is I got 3 A+ s and 2 A- s. the good thing is that I made up for it by extra credit. Nothing really to say anymore. Thanks!

Apple Picking.

                                                                               Me and the apples
We went "apple picking" last Sunday! I got a lot of tasty apples!
We also found sour-tasting berries, (well they looked like berries) and
almost everywhere you look there were apples on the ground.
Most of the apples in the trees  were good, some were bad with dark soft spots  and a lot of them were tasty especially the green ones they call the golden delicious.

We had a picnic beside the apple trees! It was a nice, cool, breezy day! The sky was blue and it was windy.
The place was huge! It looked like it could go on for miles of apple and peach trees!
There were red, yellow and green apples and most of them were tasty.

We stayed at the orchard for hours! We even got to get a pumpkin that we'll carve for Halloween!!!

  I cannot wait for Halloween!

Back-to-School-Night.

It was pretty chilly that evening when I went out to Back-to-School-Night. If you do not know what it is but I am pretty sure you do, it is the night when your parents meet your teachers.

My mom came with me to Clearview Elementary school. We saw all the cars parked along the road that meant that there was no more parking spaces in the school. The nerve!!! Luckily my mom still had the spirit to check in the parking lot. We found one rather perfect size slot which was amazingly just a few yards away from my school!

Inside we saw the nice decorations on the walls. "Wow! They really fixed the place!" I thought. My teachers posted our pictures and drawings on the walls. It was a great sight
.
It took about an hour for my teacher to finish the lecture with the parents while the pictures of our first week of school played on in the projector.  (the whole time I was reading a book called Hoot.  Really, you should read it!) Once finished I showed my mom around the classroom and then we went home. We shivered in the cold of the fall night and walked to our car. (While my mom complained about how cold it was!).  We reached our house in less than a minute because school is really close.

Thanks for reading. Visit me again.

Walk to school and Clearview elementary

I walked to school yesterday! I really enjoyed the trees and the smell of the morning. I had a nice walk. It was pretty chilly. I would have enjoyed it more have I not woken up late and gone to school pretty late too. But the walk was fun! My grandpa walked me to school! We had a little chat on the way. Stuff about school. I passed by the local swimming pool and tennis court. When I entered school I said bye to my grandpa and headed for class. But unfortunately the entrance doors were locked!!! OH Noooooo!!! The doors were locked!!! Good thing someone saw me! If it hadn't been for her I would have been really really late. Here at Clearview elementary school the classrooms have no doors. Everyone is asking why it does not have any. My teacher said that there are no doors so the students will not be noisy. Because if the other class is taking a test and we are noisy we will get in trouble. No doors at Clearview except the cafeteria and the gym. Not even the office has doors! We went to the library that day also! I was excited to borrow some books but they said the I could only borrow books the next week. I got pretty disappointed.

So thank you for reading this and come again!

Newseum

Yesterday, August 31, 2008 I went to the Newseum in Washington D.C.  It was really great! They have so
 many artifacts and all the
newspapers since the 1400s! The place was huge five stories of all glass! In every corner you can see
 something interesting.

They even have a part of the Berlin Wall! And one Death tower,
where the Germans manned
the turrets on the top!!!

They also have the tallest hydraulic powered (water powered )
elevator in the world. They also have the antenna of one of twin
 towers
And a piece of the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania!
And an entire area about the 9/11 disaster!

They have an entire floor where you can find all the front pages of current news in all the countries of the world! Then a newsroom of all the most popular news since the old times! Then there is a Be a reporter activity! Pay 5 dollars and be a reporter for a day!

They have a 4D theater and 3 other theaters. They have a huge area where you can see all the newspapers that told the story of the 9/11 disaster and part of the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. The entire area was about the  9/11! There was also an FBI exhibit with guns and stories about criminals.  The place is so big I did not finish the entire area! If you are going to go to Washington D.C. and you like museums, make sure you visit the Newseum. It is a fantastic place!

The Philippines

Hello I am Martin. Like my family I come from the Philippines. I have decided to tell you a little about it.

First of all the weather in the Philippines is very HOT.  During summer the temperature can go up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. But it is also a very beautiful place with  enormous mountain ranges, great valleys
and beautiful beaches.

It is a busy place with lots of friendly people. It also has very large cities.( sorry no picture )
I have been to lots of beautiful places in the Philippines like Cebu, Bohol and Negros. Although I have not been to Palawan and Boracay, I've heard and read that it's also so nice there and the sand is so fine. Maybe I'll check it out in one of my trips back to Manila.
There is a beautiful beach with nice facilities that we always go to that is only a two hour drive from Manila. It's Anvaya Cove in Subic. The picture on the right was taken by my brother during sunset in Anvaya Cove.

Hi this is Martin I am going to talk to you about my trip to Macau.
It's a very cool place with lots of cool infrastructures. It was raining when I got there but I saw all the cool hotels and casinos! We stayed in MGM GRAND hotel! Our room was really terrific! We had a bathtub big enough to fit 2 people! And a flat screen T.V. too! That night we went to see the prosperity tree and dancing water show in Wynns hotel! It was really beautiful! We left Macau the next day and back to Hong Kong island. It'll take you 1 hour to get there from Hongkong via Jetfoil.

P.S. if you want to see our trip to Hong Kong, go to my brothers site Exlots.blogsot.com

Worst experience.

Hello. This is Martin. I am about to tell you my worst experience ever! This happened 3 or 4 years ago(cannot even remember when). It was 7:00 in the evening. Before we went to church to hear Mass we had dinner at a small Japanese fast food restaurant. I went to the toilet
and saw a suspicious looking man. I am still wondering what he was doing but I think he was plucking his beard with tweezers. But I did not mind him.  I went back to the table and had my dinner. I decided not to tell my parents what I saw cuz I just thought it was unnecessary. When I was done I went back to the toilet to wash my hands. Then he came up behind me and punched the glass. Then he elbowed me 3 times in the head. I ran back to my mom and dad. I told them what had just happened. My dad ran to the bathroom, picked up a mop but I do not know what happened inside the bathroom. Then I saw the evil guy run out of the place. My mom and dad followed him. My mom said she was screaming "catch him!" A guard grabbed him then the local police came and tied him then took him to the police station. My mom and dad went with me my brother also came with me to the hospital. The good thing I am still fine. And took a vacation from school! HAHAHA
Thanks for reading this post and see me again please.
P.S. I slept at 2:00.
